Over the past two years, Cole and Armstead:
- Rushed an irresponsible Right to Work bill through the legislature.
- This bill not only puts West Virginia lives at risk, lets government intrude into negotiations between employers and employees, and lowers wages, but it was so hastily pushed through that its own language renders it moot.
- Repealed the state’s necessary prevailing wage law.
- By repealing the prevailing wage, wages for construction workers are set to drop, and out-of-area contractors will begin winning state-funded construction contracts.
- Removed life-saving health and safety protections for coal miners in order to put more money in the pockets of coal companies.
- Thanks to Cole and Armstead’s “leadership”, coal miners are no longer protected by several regulations, including those put in place after the Blacksville No. 1 Mine Fire in 1972 that claimed 9 lives.
- Risked total government shutdown by playing politics with our state’s budget, and spent over half a million taxpayer dollars in the process.
- Not only did Cole and Armstead pass an irresponsible budget that forced the governor’s veto, but Cole had the gall to hold fundraisers for his campaign while wasting taxpayer money on their special budget session.
- Did nothing to address education in our state.
- Cole and Armstead didn’t just fail West Virginians of voting age; they also failed our children by refusing to pass any legislation to improve our state’s educational system.
